Jim O' Jim

from Here On Earth by Brandon Isaak

/

about

This is a song all about a old timer who lived in Whitehorse, Yukon in the 60 / 70's. He was a hobo who came up north to prospect for gold. He was dear friend of mine and my family.

lyrics

Jim ol Jim was a travelin man,
With the clothes on his back, and banjo in hand.
Tryin’ to earn a living, doin’ the best he can.
Jim ol Jim was a travelin man.

He was a drifter, just drifting along,
Such a lonesome feeling, when your…
1000 miles from home.

Ridin’ the rails of an old freight train,
He looks outside and says…
Looks like rain.

Looks like rain, looks like rain
Don’t matter much I’m gunna ride this train.

Jim traveled to a faraway place.
Carrying something that he had saved.
A long lost promise, that he made,
Left her gold nuggets, on her grave.

Jim ol Jim was a travelin man,
With the clothes on his back, and banjo in hand.
Tryin’ to earn a living, doin’ the best he can.
Jim ol Jim was a travelin man.

Ridin’ the rails of an old freight train,
He looks outside and says…
Looks like rain.
