The blues comes in many styles often conflicting interpolations of what is and whats is not. But here Brandon Isaak put his finger on a few different classic styles the blues and some that have gone dormant or out of fashion in the modern world. This, Brandon 5th solo release shines a light on his gifted song writing skills and versatile approach to his deep history of the blues form. Before there were guitars playing the blues there were banjos and this latest release hits a few old school examples of that earlier time. Brandon is joined by some wonderful and long time veteran musicians from his new home on Vancouver Island. He wanted to use local musicians who have a rich history of playing this old style of blues before the distorted guitars and over mixed drums came to fashion. so you’ll hear some Tuba, Clarinet, washboard and other old time instruments that are as common as they once were. This Yukon born artist never wants to put out the same sounding records and this is a great example of that. This album goes from early sounding blues from the 30’s to more modern sounding blues with themes ranging from Happy go lucky to plain down and out blues.
